We have cable tv (J-Com, which is I guess the equivalent of Sky in England), and just the other week we had our yearly checkup. Before the man came we got a letter warning us of his impending arrival with a nice photo of him so we could recognise him for security reasons. Very smart, and safe.
Not entirely sure why we needed to know his blood type though.
In case we're allergic?

Yeah but even if it is the personality thing, it's a huge step in customer service to let you know what your inspector's personality will be before he comes in! Is this so you can object if he's likely to be a disagreeable fellow?

This pops up in Japanese RPGs a lot (I think Persona 3 had it in the manual):

I guess if you get a bad O type, you'd best hide the axes and avoid playing Huey Lewis while he's over.
